Building Traffic Part 1

There are hundreds and thousands of bloggers all over the world blogging about business, health, hobbies, music, beauty, money, marketing, etc. Some blog for fun, some for money!

You are one among them and let me tell you, the most important thing which I have learnt from my blogging experienced is that, "Traffic" is the only thing that will separate your blog from the rest of the bloggers online. Visitors play a very importnat role. No visitors means there is very little you can do to monetize your blog. The revenue you generate from your blog is a function of traffic. The more the traffic, the more are your possible income.

High quality content is the only way to ensure and attract good traffic. Your high quality content is something that will engage your visitors and want them to revisit your site again and again which means that you will need to take the time and effort to think through each of your postings and to set high standards for yourself.

When you start out your blog, the focus can be less on quality and more on posting your contents regularly. Most bloggers find it difficult to maintain consistent schedule to update their blog. At first, get comfortable in your posting schedule, then, you can pay more attention to maintaining and enhancing the quality of your contents.

Also, for the first few months, just forget about traffic and concentrate on building traffic. Use Google Analytics which is a free program to keep track of your traffic growth and to understand how your visitors are reaching your site. Such as - Where they come from - New or Returning visitors, What search terms or Keywords they had used to find your site and what are the most popular posts they visit, etc. Once you get an idea of your visitors pattern, you can then go about trying to improve on this by creating more content with reference to the same thing. For example, if your most popular post was about vacation in an exotic location, you may want to do a follow up story about the same place. You could also sell advertising space to tour companies in that area or sign up some affiliate websites which is related to tours and travels and monetize your blog.

You should be willing to spare some time for marketing your blog. Consider paid advertisements if you have a serious plan in monetizing your site. However, the most basic technique, which is free except for the time you are going to spend, is to visit other people's blogs of interest and leave meaningful comments. Most comment sections provide a field to leave your site address. Whoever likes your comment or who liked what you say may follow you back through your link for more information about your blog.
