Few things you should know about Blogging - Blogger or WordPress :

1. Blogs are easier to setup than building a website, and because of this one reason, many people are often lured into thinking that the blogs are a better option than websites.

2. The content of the blog is usually organized by date and category. You can view all the posts, both recent and older under blog archive.  Blogs allow people to leave comments. Readers can directly communicate with the author. Blogs are considered as the trusted sources of informations.

3. If you are into thinking that creating a blog is an easier way to make money online, then you are wrong! Even bloggers who are currently earning a lot of money from blogging have put in their share of time and effort. Just like a website, blogs too require hard work, patience, an understanding of Internet marketing and search engine optimization or SEO (the process of getting ranked high in Google, Yahoo, etc).

4. One of the most important thing that you should know is, in blogs the options are somewhat limited as when compared to a website (in terms of design and data manipulation) until you learn more about HTML and how they are coded. However, if you use WordPress, you will have the flexibility to do so much with your blog's content and layout. Blogger is very good and is super easy to use but WordPress has a lot more features and plug-ins that will allow you to enhance your blog.

5. You need to keep your blog constantly updated, so that your readers will come back looking for more interesting posts . If you are lazy then there is a chance that you will lose your potential readers. The most important age-old advice that we keep repeating is "Write Quality Content" to drive traffic to your blog. Good content is the foundation of any popular blog list and the other is "Marketing". In simple words, a blogger should excel in business skill. He or she should be really good in driving traffic and attracting people to his or her blog contents. People are not going to bump into your blog just like that or you are not going to get popular in just one night by writing down some few contents on your blog. You need to understand the marketing strategies and techniques to popularize your contents. It is through marketing, people will find your contents.

6. You can host your blog in two different ways :

(a) The first way is to remotely host it. Let me explain to you in simple term. "Remotely Host it" means your blog contents or your files literally sit on the server of the blogging platform such as for example if you are using WordPress.com, Blogger.com, etc. In that case, there is always a risk involved because if Blogger or WordPress decide to shut your blog down (for whatever reason), you would lose all your content. This happened with me too, my blog was deleted and I don't have any other option then to start a new one. So, I decided to purchase my own domain and get my own domain address for my blog. Moreover, hosting is so cheap these days that it is worth spending a few extra dollars to own your content and have a real blog address like http://yourblog.com -- especially if you are serious about making money online.

(b). Have you heard about "Self Hosted Blog"? In Self Hosted Blog, all your files or blog contents sits on the hosting account that you own. So, there is no way that anybody can delete your files or shut your blog. Not only that, your blog address is more professional and easy to remember because you can have a true domain like http://yourblog.com. Isn't that great!

Note : WordPress and Blogger are the two most popular blogging platforms. Blogger is good for newbies or anyone seeking their hands on blogging for the first time. It is easy to set up and publish whereas setting up a WordPress blog is slightly more involved, but it is well worth it in the long run.
